Zara Duong (Vietnamese name: Nghi Phuong Duong) is an eleven-year-old author, artist, and pianist from USA. She loves reading novels, writing stories, and creating comics filled with magic, humor, and imagination.
A passionate young musician, Zara has performed piano at some of the world’s most prestigious venues — including Carnegie Hall in New York, The Memorial Church of Harvard University, and Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. Her musical journey continues to grow as she joins an orchestra and begins learning the violin.
When she’s not writing or playing music, Zara enjoys swimming and basketball — always giving her best in everything she does.

Writing OFF THE THRONE has had its ups and downs, but it has been such an important journey for me. Every page is filled with the imaginations and dreams I’ve had in the past, all brought together to create this story!
There were days when ideas rushed into my head so quickly I could barely type fast enough, and other days when I had no idea how to continue. Still, I pushed through, reminding myself that the first few steps are always the hardest. With that in mind, I kept jotting down notes—random timelines and plots that didn’t make sense at the time—trusting they would eventually come together.
Sometimes I worried there was no way to connect all those scattered ideas, but little by little, they started to fall into place. Some parts weren’t even planned—they came together last minute, as if the story had a mind of its own. I truly hope readers will enjoy the journey!
